Initial Post Instructions
There are many parts of the neurologic exam. For this discussion, we would like you to go into detail on a particular part of the exam. To ensure students are discussing a variety of patients, including those outside their comfort level, your instructor will divide you into groups and post your patient in the discussion below. Please review the instructor post before moving forward with your patient assignment.
- Mental status
- Motor function and balance
- Sensory exam
- Reflexes
- Cranial nerves
- Coordination exam
Based on your assigned topic, please provide the following:
- Details on an exam technique used to assess this part of the neuro assessment.
- The rationale for the action.
- Information on what normal and abnormal findings would look like.
- What abnormal findings could indicate.
- A video of this assessment that you have found online if possible.
